Poly Languages uses the English Proficiency Assessment Test (EPAT) to place new students in a proper level. The EPAT consists of two exams: EPAT I and EPAT II. 

The EPAT I is designed to place new students between levels 1 and 3. It has a test to assess listening skills and a test to assess grammar/structure proficiency, and students have 10 and 30 minutes to complete the tests, respectively.

The EPAT II is designed to place new students between levels 4 and 6, and the EPAT II is given only to the students who score level-4-equivalent or higher on the EPAT I. It has a test to assess listening/speaking skills and a test to assess reading/writing skills, and students have 50 and 65 minutes to complete the tests, respectively.

Students may present the IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or TOEIC score for their placement instead of taking the EPAT.  However, exam dates of presented documents must be within 1 year of their expected start date.

New students may appeal their placement by the 2^nd day of the term. Generally, students may move down one level at their sole discretion.  However, in order to advance to higher levels, students must either retake the EPAT or obtain recommendation letters from their current teachers. In all cases, the final decision will be made by the administration office.
