Program Overview

Our TOEFL Preparation Program is designed to help students build the English language skills and test-taking strategies needed to succeed on the TOEFL iBT® test and prepare for academic study in English-speaking environments.

The program focuses on:

  • Reading strategies for academic texts, articles, and other real-world sources
  • Listening comprehension for academic talks, lectures, campus announcements, and everyday interactions
  • Speaking skills for academic and real-life situations, including interviews and other speaking activities
  • Writing skills for academic and online communication, including emails and discussions
  • Foundational language skills through vocabulary, sentence-building, and listening-and-repeating activities
  • Test-taking strategies and time management to help students approach TOEFL iBT® tasks with confidence and efficiency

TOEFL Program Structure

The TOEFL Preparation Program is an intensive 16-week program divided into four 4-week terms.

Students may enter the program after completing Level 5 or Level 6 of the General English Program, or by placing into an equivalent level through the English Proficiency Assessment Test (EPAT).

TOEFL Courses Offered

The TOEFL program includes two skill-focused courses:

  • TOEFL Prep – Listening & Speaking (TFLS): Develops listening comprehension and spoken communication through TOEFL-aligned tasks and academic, campus-based, and everyday communication scenarios.
  • TOEFL Prep – Reading & Writing (TFRW): Builds reading comprehension, vocabulary, and effective written communication through academic and everyday texts and writing tasks, including emails and discussions.

Both courses integrate language accuracy, communication skills, and timed practice to help students become familiar with the skills and task types assessed on the TOEFL iBT® test.

Materials

TOEFL Prep classes use the Official TOEFL iBT® Prep Course as the primary course material.

Additional instructional and practice materials may also be incorporated to support course objectives and provide further TOEFL iBT® practice.

Progress & Placement

Students progress by successfully completing coursework and demonstrating proficiency in TOEFL-related skills and tasks.
