🔍 What We Look For in ESL Teachers
To qualify for a teaching position at POLY, you must:
- Speak English at a native or near-native level
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Hold a degree in TESOL or a closely related field, or
- Hold a TESOL/TEFL/TESL/CELTA/DELTA certificate (minimum 120 hours) if your degree is in another field, or
- Have at least 2 years of ESL teaching experience and be willing to enroll in a certificate program
- Be comfortable using tools like Zoom and our digital learning platform (MEL)
Preference is given to those with:
- Experience teaching adult ESL learners
- TOEFL preparation experience
- Familiarity with online/hybrid instruction

- In-Person at our campuses in Irvine or Los Angeles (local applicants only)
- Remote (Service Contract) using Zoom and MEL (open to broader applicants)

👉 Step 2: If applying for a remote position, you’ll be asked to upload a short video introduction (1–3 minutes) recorded using Zoom.

Q: Do you require previous ESL teaching experience?
A: Not always. If you have a TESOL certificate and strong communication skills, we welcome your application.
Q: Can I apply even if you’re not hiring right now?
A: Yes. We keep qualified applications on file and review them when openings arise.
Q: Is training provided?
A: Yes. All teachers receive an orientation and ongoing support from our FST.
Q: Can I teach online from outside California?
A: Yes, remote applicants are welcome as long as you are available during Pacific Time hours and meet our technical and communication standards for online instruction. Compensation may vary depending on work location, experience, and other factors.
